Your Anxiety Attacks, Panic and Other Symptoms

Anxiety and panic attacks may be your “root” problem, but other illnesses may have to be treated first before you can get at that root. If you’ve been self-medicating with drugs or alcohol, suffering from depression, have a physical illness or other major problem, you may need to get these treated before you deal with the anxiety or panic attacks.

In my own case, dealing with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) helped me get over the “feeling of impending doom” that plagued me. Because I wasn’t getting enough bright light exposure during the Winter months, I’d become tired, depressed, crave carbohydrates and withdraw from life. Once this started, anxiety and panic would easily creep into my life. After getting and using a lightbox specifically made for SAD, my symptoms vanished and I could get on with my life.

A simple thing like Light Therapy helped to remove a major source of my problems. If you haven’t gotten a checkup for a while, it might be a good idea to see a doctor and get one. If there’s an organic cause for your symptoms that can be treated, you’re helping to prevent unnecessary suffering and worry. Plus, you might find your anxiety and panic attacks reduced or even eliminated.
